Review of Vault of Bones
The Flame Princess is back! And in such a unique way as well; this is one of the most coherent episodes thus far, and surprisingly making it one of the funniest as well.
Basically, Finn got spooked that the Flame King is trying to influence FP to be evil in a hilarious scene, (evil-evil-evil-evil, said Keith frackin' David!), so how does our human boyfriend help her to clear mind on whether she truly is evil?
Dungeon crawling, duh.
What makes this such a unique episode is how balanced it is with its character development, action and comedy.
It uses the dungeon-crawling conventions from video games and turns it on its head, for one.
And yet, it's also one of the least random episodes as well, as it uses more of a sitcom style to incite the laughs, such as the aforementioned 'evil-evil-evil-evil' scene, dungeon monsters being forced to do splits, etc.
It also has a clear structure to it as well, thanks to Finn essentially guiding FP on the ways of dungeon crawling, which makes this very new-viewer-friendly. Finn correcting FP on how to properly dungeon crawl is comedy gold.
Animation is amped. Shading and lighting always gives the very simple but attractive style of Adventure Time texture, and this episode is gorgeous.
In particular, FP going Jean Grey/Princess Luna/Hulk at the climax, and it's safe to say it's one of the more kick-butt moments of the show.
Dialogue of Adventure Time has always used really loose slang and 'hipster' lingo, but this episode really holds that back, and it made the comic timings much more natural.
Again, everything slots into place at the right moments, something Adventure Time is not known for. It's such a strange episode in that, its not the weirdest, or the saddest, or even the funniest, but in that it is very, very competently done.
4/5

I Remember You
You were my everything, Simon.
My guardian,
My protector,
You were my like a father, Simon.
I trusted you.
Looked up to you,
Relied on you,
I loved you, Simon.
You'll never know how much I loved you.
Never know how much I cared,
Never know how much I adored you,
You'll never know how much I yearned to have you back, Simon.
Oh, my dearest Simon,
Why did you love that damned crown so much?
The icy madness had consumed you before I could save you
I could have saved you...
I need you Simon!
How could you not see that,
When everything was so clear?
You blinded fool
my darling Simon
You became consumed with insa

That must be hard for you
I wont always be there to protect you
